PSALMS 12:6,7 (NIV)
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. O Lord, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.
PSALMS 12:6,7 (KJV)
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Keep us safe? HUH? I thought David was talking about God's Words? So were did keep us safe come from? Its funny the NIV is supposed to be a "translation" yet the editors in translating completely changed the meaning of the verse. Jesus said this "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." in Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33. "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." (Proverbs 30:5-6). So you mean if I add anything to what God already said and is established, I will be found a liar? YES! Another verse: "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." (Deuteronomy 4:2). Yet another verse: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Rev. 22:18-19). So if I take away from God's word, I will not enter heaven but suffer Hellfire? YES! Here more proof that God preserved his word. Its called The Authorized King James Version of 1611. Don't be afraid to find out the truth.
