Romans 10:9 (NIV)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
"Lordship Salvation" teaches that an individual must make Jesus Christ absolute Lord of every area of his life before he can be saved. To require that a sinner make Jesus Christ Lord of every area of his life is an impossibiblity and would be the greatest form of works salavtion ever devised. Wow what a big difference in translation! So according to the NIV I have to literally say "Jesus is Lord" in order to be saved? Or I have to go around saying "Jesus is Lord" everywere I go? Today Jesus you will be Lord of work, tommorow Jesus I will make you Lord over my relationships...what kind of doctrine is this? Hence the NIV is the birth of Lordship Salvation. When I believed on Jesus for my salvation he automatically became my Lord, my King, my Saviour, my Father, my God, my Rock, my Salvation, my Redeemer, my Best Friend, my EVERYTHING! I was saved because I believed not because I said out loud "Jesus is Lord". I don't need to make Jesus "Lord", he already is Lord, he is Lord of lords. (De 10:17) For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
(Ps 136:3) O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. (1Ti 6:15) Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; (Re 17:14) These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. (Re 19:16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
